Updates on the Khlong Thom Center fire in Pom Prap Sattru Phai district report that after firefighters had been continuously spraying water to control the blaze, parts of the roof and some structural elements began to collapse. At 23:13 on 28 Aug 2023, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Facebook page updated that the fire had been brought under control.
However, at 00:35 on 29 Aug 2023, reports emerged that the fire reignited in a building adjacent to Khlong Thom Center, suspected to be due to accumulated heat.
The Director of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office initially revealed that the source of this flare-up was a commercial building housing automotive accessories. The director explained that the fire reignited because the heat had not fully dissipated; as moisture evaporated, the heat flared up again. Currently, firefighters are working from the lower floors upward to extinguish the fire.
