An electric car crashed into motorcycles, sweeping away nine bikes in front of a convenience store in Bang Phli. One person was found dead and seven injured. Authorities are urgently investigating the cause and proceeding with legal measures.
At 08:10 on 29 Aug 2026, Police Lieutenant Thanakorn Tiantanan, deputy investigator at Bang Kaew Police Station, received a report of a car crashing into multiple motorcycles in front of a convenience store inside Soi Mahachai, Intersection 1, Village No. 13, Bang Phli Yai Subdistrict, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province. There were fatalities and several injuries. Rescue workers and volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation were dispatched to the scene.
At the scene outside the convenience store, a black Deepal electric car with Bangkok registration was found. The driver, 43-year-old Witthachok from Samut Prakan, was injured from the impact. The front of the car was badly damaged and stuck to a black Honda motorcycle registered in Bangkok. A total of nine motorcycles were damaged. Seven people, both men and women, mostly motorcycle riders and people at the motorcycle taxi stand in front of the store, were injured. Officials provided first aid before transporting them to Prince Suvarnabhumi Hospital.
Additionally, a male fatality was found at the scene: 57-year-old Cherdsak Sutthinun from Samut Prakan, who was the rider of a black Mio motorcycle registered in Samut Sakhon. The electric car had struck him on the road at the three-way junction, pinning him against the front of the car. He died on the sidewalk next to his motorcycle. The car then crashed through a corrugated iron fence and hit the rear of a white MG car registered in Samut Prakan and eight more motorcycles, all damaged.
Inquiries with Ms. Waranya Sutthinun, 42, the deceased's wife, revealed that before the accident, her husband had just left their nearby home to buy coffee, with her riding as a passenger. While passing the three-way junction, the electric car suddenly crashed violently into their motorcycle, causing her husband’s immediate death. She had dismounted shortly before the collision. The car then smashed through the iron fence, hitting the motorcycle taxi stand and customers’ motorcycles parked outside the convenience store.
Initially, Bang Kaew Police have inspected the accident site, collected evidence, and reviewed CCTV footage. They are preparing to question the driver, surrounding witnesses, and bystanders to determine the true cause of the accident and will proceed according to legal protocols.
