At 09:30 on 29 August 2026 GMT+7, Nonthaburi Municipality, together with the Thailand Rowing Association and the Tourism Authority of Thailand Bangkok Office, organized the 17th Traditional Long Boat Race to Promote Tourism for the 2026 Royal Trophy. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Chedtha Mosikhanrat, Governor of Nonthaburi Province. Mr. Somnuk Thanadechakul, Mayor of Nonthaburi Municipality, delivered the event report. Also attending were Ms. Atchara Sricham, Nonthaburi Provincial Prosecutor; Ms. Yaniphat Srikot, District Chief of Mueang Nonthaburi; Dr. Manat Chuphaka, Special Expert in Human Resources and Organizational Management at Bangsue Company and Feijia Meng Rice Mill Co., Ltd.; municipal executives, government officials, and local residents at the Nonthaburi pier embankment area in Mueang Nonthaburi District, Nonthaburi Province.

This year’s competition runs from 29 to 30 August 2026 GMT+7 along the Chao Phraya River at the Nonthaburi pier embankment. Its objectives are to preserve the ancient Thai cultural heritage along the Chao Phraya River and in Nonthaburi, strengthen bonds and unity across all age groups, and promote tourism while stimulating the local economy.

A key highlight this year is that Nonthaburi Municipality has been graciously granted the Royal Trophy by His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn for the 55-paddler category (Class 1) and the Royal Trophy from Her Majesty the Queen for the 30-paddler category (Class 1). This is a great honor for the competition and serves as important encouragement for athletes, race organizers, and the people of Nonthaburi Province. The event has received strong cooperation from government agencies, private sectors, local communities, and long boat teams nationwide, showcasing pride, honor, and deep reverence for the river.

Nonthaburi Municipality aims for this traditional long boat race to serve as a platform to preserve and continue Thai arts and culture, while boosting the local tourism economy and leaving a lasting impression on both Thai and foreign tourists who attend annually.
