
Thairath reporters "Nares Meethep - Piyachat Kongthin" won the "Good Journalist" award from the Provincial Press Association of Thailand.
At 11:00 a.m. on 29 Aug 2026, at the Sunflower meeting room on the 2nd floor of Cross Vibe Bangkok Srinakarin (King Park Avenue Hotel) on Srinakarin Road, Soi 40, Prawet district, Bangkok, Mr. Anan Nilmanon, president of the Provincial Press Association of Thailand, and the executive committee opened the 2026 annual general meeting.
The Provincial Press Association of Thailand (PPA), now in its 61st year, was founded in 1965 in Phitsanulok province. It is Thailand’s first professional association for provincial journalists, playing a key role in promoting and developing journalism across print, radio, television, and digital media, as well as serving as a central network hub for provincial media nationwide.
Currently in its 61st year, the association has a media network of over 3,000 members and continuously undertakes public benefit activities such as providing scholarships to members’ children, assisting members in distress, supporting educational, religious, and social activities, and aiding victims of fires and other disasters.
In this event, Commander Worawit Techasupakoon, assistant to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supachai Suthammanont, and Mr. Chaworn Limpapattanapanee, chairman of the National Press Council and former president of the Thai Journalists Association, chaired the presentation of honorary awards to outstanding civil servants including Police Major Generals Theeradej Thammasuthi (Big Jor), Songprod Sirisukha, Pornsak Laorujiralai, and Chaikrit Phoah.
The "Good Journalist" awards went to Mr. Nares Meethep of Thairath Newspaper and Mr. Piyachat Kongthin of Thairath TV. Additionally, outstanding companies/organizations and public service contributors also received awards. The committee carefully selected recipients recognized as qualified experts with consistently excellent performance.
