Pattaya Ready to Serve U.S. Troops! USS Abraham Lincoln Docks at Laem Chabang

Pattaya is ready to welcome U.S. troops! The USS Abraham Lincoln has docked at Laem Chabang, with the first group of personnel expected to arrive in Pattaya at 3:30 p.m. Tourist police have deployed strong security measures, and local businesses are preparing to provide services.

At 12:00 p.m. on 2 September 2026, reporters observed Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, preparing to receive U.S. Navy personnel after the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) docked at Laem Chabang port earlier this morning. The first group of personnel is scheduled to arrive in Pattaya at 3:30 p.m. and will stay at the Hard Rock Pattaya hotel on Pattaya Central Beach, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Meanwhile, tourist police and related agencies have mobilized to facilitate and ensure full security coverage.

Before the troops arrived, tourist police deployed operational vehicles equipped with support technology to key areas, while also stationing personnel at important points. Additionally, buses have been arranged to transport personnel between Laem Chabang port and Pattaya.

Many bar and entertainment venue operators in Pattaya began opening their establishments early in the morning to prepare for the arrival of U.S. personnel coming to relax. This has already started to bring a lively atmosphere to the bars ahead of the first group’s arrival this afternoon.

Mr. Jiraphan Pongsap, 47, a beach chair operator in Pattaya, said that local beach chair operators are not particularly excited about the arrival of U.S. military personnel, as in the past, American troops visiting tend not to engage in beach activities due to concerns about injury or danger from water sports. Most prefer to visit restaurants, souvenir shops, massage parlors, shopping malls, and bars. Nevertheless, he said they will be good hosts and provide full assistance.

Ms. Natthakarn Thongin, 24, a massage shop owner, expressed happiness that the U.S. Navy personnel from the USS Abraham Lincoln are visiting Thailand for leisure. She mentioned that she and her staff have prepared to take good care of these tourists, acknowledging that they bring spending to the country. She also urged other business operators to join together as good hosts and create a positive impression for the troops.
