A student carrying a 9mm gun fired inside a prominent school in Kamphaeng Phet. Authorities have initially detained the suspect, while everyone at the school remains safe. The security guard revealed that he was fortunate to dodge the shots in time.
At around 14:20, reporters received news of a shooting inside a school in Kamphaeng Phet Province. The perpetrator was a student. After the incident, officials managed to detain him along with the 9mm handgun. It was found that the student was currently suspended from classes.
During the incident, the school announced that all other students must stay inside their classrooms and locked all doors.
The school's security guard explained that normally, students must pass by his post to enter. At that moment, a parent or vendor ran up and warned him that the student had a gun. The guard only caught this faintly due to the low volume. Suddenly, the student pointed the gun and fired, but luckily, the guard dodged in time, though his ears were ringing. The student then fired a shot into the air near the trees in the schoolyard and continued shooting. The guard was unsure how many shots were fired.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Afterward, many parents gathered at the school entrance to follow the situation and wait to pick up their children.
A parent waiting to pick up her child at the school said she was concerned because her child was on the rooftop and called saying he might jump. She told him not to jump. This is reportedly the second such incident. The parent claimed the school previously asked to keep the first incident quiet, saying they could handle it, but they could not. She insisted the incident should not be covered up, as the school would not be responsible if something happened.
Reporters added that the suspect, a Grade 9 student, fired approximately six shots inside the school. One bullet hit a teacher's parked car, breaking its window.
