The Meteorological Department's second announcement warns of "heavy to very heavy rain" over upper Thailand and lists provinces affected from 4 to 7 September 2026. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm "Sodel" is nearing southern China's coast and is expected to weaken.

On 2 September 2026, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentissued Announcement No. 2 regarding heavy to very heavy rain over upper Thailand (effective 4 - 7 September 2026).

It stated that from 4 to 7 September 2026, upper Thailand will experience heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, especially in the northern and northeastern regions. This is due to a monsoon trough crossing northern and upper northeastern Thailand, combined with a moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Residents in these areas should be cautious of dangers from heavy and prolonged rainfall that could cause flash floods and mountain torrents, particularly in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones. People should avoid traveling on frequently flooded routes, especially in low-lying areas prone to short-term waterlogging.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm "Sodel" over the upper South China Sea is expected to approach southern China’s coast on 3-4 September 2026 and weaken. Travelers to that area should check weather conditions before departure. This storm will not move into Thailand.
