The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued a warning to 54 provinces and Bangkok to watch for flash floods, flash floods from mountain streams, landslides, and waterlogging from 4 to 7 September 2026 GMT+7.
On 3 September 2026 at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), announced that the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Operations Center has been monitoring weather conditions and risk factors. The Meteorological Department issued Announcement No. 1 (181/2569) on 2 September 2026 at 5:00 a.m., warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in upper Thailand from 4 to 7 September 2026, especially in the northern and northeastern regions.
This is due to a monsoon trough crossing the northern and upper northeastern regions, combined with moderate southwest monsoon winds covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Areas expected to experience heavy rainfall may face flash floods, flash floods from mountain streams, landslides, and waterlogging during 4 to 7 September 2026 as follows.

The Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Operations Center under the DDPM has coordinated to inform 54 provinces in the north, northeast, central region, and Bangkok, including regional disaster prevention centers in risk areas, to prepare for increased rainfall and heavy to very heavy rain that may cause flooding.
Officials are instructed to closely monitor weather conditions, rainfall amounts, and water situations locally, deploy response teams with disaster machinery in risk areas to respond and assist residents promptly—especially where rainfall exceeds 90 millimeters in 24 hours—to minimize impacts as much as possible.
Temporary shelters must be prepared to accommodate evacuees adequately. Natural tourist sites, especially caves and waterfalls, should be closed if there is a risk of hazardous situations. Public announcements should inform citizens to follow weather updates and official news closely and alert residents in risk areas in advance to prepare and follow official safety recommendations.
