The Chonburi Governor, accompanied by a delegation, toured the USS Abraham Lincoln, a U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, docked at Laem Chabang Port, with strict security personnel deployed for safety management.
On 3 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Narit Niramaiwong, Governor of Chonburi Province, together with Major General Prasert Jaikla, Commander of the 14th Military Circle, and local district chiefs, visited the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier of the U.S. Navy, docked at Laem Chabang Port, Si Racha District, Chonburi Province. The visit aimed to strengthen relations and foster friendship between Thailand and the United States.
The USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) is one of the largest and most capable aircraft carriers of the U.S. Navy, powered by two nuclear reactors, enabling extended operations and long voyages without frequent refueling.
The ship measures over 333 meters in length, roughly equivalent to three football fields end to end, and stands about as tall as a 20-story building. It can accommodate more than 5,000 crew and personnel and supports over 80 aircraft, including fighter jets, helicopters, and airborne early warning planes.
The visit of the USS Abraham Lincoln to Chonburi reflects the strong security cooperation and good relations between Thailand and the U.S. It also presents an important opportunity to stimulate the local economy and tourism sector, particularly benefiting hotels, restaurants, transport, and service businesses in Pattaya and surrounding areas through the presence of U.S. personnel on leave.
