The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has alerted six central provinces and Bangkok to monitor the situation. On 3 September 2026 at 19:20, Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), announced that the DDPM, serving as the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC), received notification from the Hydrographic Department of the Royal Thai Navy. The announcement concerns water levels in the Chao Phraya River near Phra Chulachomklao Fort and surrounding areas from 7 to 13 September 2026 (Notice No. 12/2569), issued on 3 September 2026. It states that between 7 and 13 September 2026, from 16:00 to 19:00, high tide levels are expected. This may cause riverbanks to overflow and water levels in rivers and canals to rise, potentially flooding low-lying areas along rivers and canals, including communities outside flood barriers and areas without permanent flood protection (known as "leaky barriers"). The Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command, under the DDPM, has therefore coordinated to alert the six central provinces—Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Prakan—as well as Bangkok to monitor the high tide situation.
The provinces are also requested to inform the public about the timing of the high tide and warn related agencies and private businesses operating along rivers and canals, such as embankment construction projects and riverside restaurants. Residents living near rivers and at vulnerable low-lying areas along riverbanks should remain vigilant and closely follow updates. Additionally, disaster machinery and operational teams should be prepared and stationed at risk locations to respond and assist residents promptly.
Residents can follow warning announcements via the "THAI DISASTER ALERT" application. If affected by the disaster situation, they can report incidents and request assistance via the Line application at "DDPM Report 1784" by adding the Line ID @1784DDPM, or call the 24-hour emergency hotline 1784 for urgent coordination and aid.
