A 56-year-old man hired to clear weeds in a dense forest was shocked to find scattered human skeletal remains. Police are urgently working to identify the remains and check missing persons' records.
At 13:00 on 6 September 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Siwakorn Chantamenchai, investigating officer of Bo Thong Police Station, along with rescue personnel from Sawang Khueak Ban Thung Hiang Bo Thong unit, received a report from villagers about human skeletal remains found in a forest area in Kaset Suwan Subdistrict, Bo Thong District, Chonburi Province. They promptly proceeded to investigate.
Upon arrival, the area was found to be a dense, overgrown forest. Officers discovered scattered human skeletal fragments lying on the grass in several spots. They searched nearby areas for additional bone pieces to collect and examine comprehensively. Clothing believed to belong to the deceased was also found at the scene.
When questioned, Mr. Wannasri Kaenchan, 56, a local resident who found the skeleton, explained he was hired by the landowner to clear weeds and clear the dense forest area. While working and walking deeper into the forest, he noticed an object resembling bone fragments. Approaching closer, he saw what looked like a human skull, which shocked him greatly.
After regaining composure, he immediately notified the police to come and inspect. Upon detailed examination, officers confirmed multiple human skeletal fragments were indeed scattered on the grassy ground in several places.
Initially, police collected the skeletal fragments, along with clothing and other items found at the site, as evidence. These will be sent for forensic identification. They are also checking previous missing person reports from the area and nearby locations to coordinate with relatives to verify the clothing and belongings found.
Authorities will expedite forensic analysis to confirm the deceased’s identity, as well as investigate the cause and estimated time of death, aiming to resolve the mystery of the human skeleton discovered in the forest.
