A fire broke out in a school building at a well-known school in the Bang Khun Thian area. Firefighters responded to control the fire, which is now extinguished. One teacher suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
At 16:07 on 6 September 2026, reporters reported a fire at a building near Suankularb Wittayalai Thonburi School on Kanchanaphisek Road (Bang Khun Thian–Phra Pradaeng expressway), Tha Kham Subdistrict, Bang Khun Thian District, Bangkok. Fire and rescue personnel from Bang Bon and Thung Khru stations arrived promptly to investigate.
The scene was a four-story building inside Suankularb Wittayalai Thonburi School, with fire burning on the upper floors. Firefighters quickly used water to extinguish the flames, and by approximately 16:11, the fire was brought under control and put out.
Initially, one injured person was found at the scene: a man suffering from smoke inhalation. He was later identified as a teacher who had gone to the fire site attempting to extinguish the blaze. Volunteers transported him to Bang Khun Thian Elderly Hospital.
Preliminary reports indicate that two classrooms were damaged by the fire during the incident.
Investigation revealed the fire started on the fourth floor in the social studies classroom. The flames spread from desks to computers, printers, refrigerators, microwaves, air conditioners, walls, and the roof, damaging two rooms completely. Initial suspicion is that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit at a wall socket. However, the exact cause awaits further official investigation.
