Following a case where a Facebook user posted a video showing an incident inside Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital, a renowned brain specialist was heard sharply criticizing nurses and related departments because the X-ray film system malfunctioned, preventing the doctor from viewing results to diagnose and treat. This caused hundreds of patients and their relatives to wait from morning until nearly noon. In the clip, the doctor encouraged patients and their families to meet with the hospital director to complain about the delays.
After the clip was shared, it sparked widespread debate with divided opinions: one side praised the doctor’s courage in speaking up and defending patient rights, while the other side felt the nurses should not have been blamed.
Subsequently, Dr. Sutthipot Chayanatpong, Provincial Public Health Doctor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, ordered an immediate fact-check. Initial findings showed the hospital was upgrading its system, which caused obstacles in transmitting X-ray film data.
This incident caused internal tensions, with some nurses expressing dissatisfaction with the doctor’s behavior, viewing the public outburst and scolding of nurses in front of many patients as disrespectful to colleagues. They believe that if the problem stems from the system, it should be addressed through discussion and cooperation rather than public confrontation.
