Doi Suthep-Pui National Park has announced the temporary closure of Mae Sa Waterfall and Tad Mok Waterfall after heavy rain caused flash floods.
This morning (10 Sep 2026 GMT+7), Doi Suthep-Pui National Park declared the closure of Mae Sa Waterfall and Tad Mok Waterfall in Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province, following continuous heavy rainfall since the afternoon of yesterday (9 Sep). The accumulated rain in the watershed area led to flash floods, raising water levels. The water appeared muddy red, flowing rapidly and turbulently.
For the safety of tourists, Doi Suthep-Pui National Park has temporarily closed the waterfalls until the situation returns to normal. Earlier, a foreign tourist swimming at Mae Sa Waterfall was swept away by the fast and strong flash flood but was fortunately rescued in time by park officials and was unharmed. The latest weather remains overcast with ongoing rain in the area.
