According to the case, officers from the Crime Suppression Division (CIB) took custody of Phra Wachirayan Wi., also known as Luang Por Atichot, abbot of Wat Phuttha Thaisawan Royal Monastery in Samphalom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, after discovering he had embezzled temple funds for personal use and transferred over 92 million baht through a close female devotee. He was arrested at the temple's monk quarters this morning while preparing to have breakfast.
After images of the arrest were released, many people showed interest in the menu on Luang Por Atichot Thammavaro's dining table, which featured a variety of dishes arranged similarly to a Chinese banquet. The spread included steamed fish with soy sauce, fried fish, shabu hot pot, sour curry, and several other dishes. This led to speculation whether the meal was a special offering brought by devotees or a regular menu for this monk.
Subsequently, photos purported to show past meals served to Luang Por Atichot Thammavaro were shared, depicting a Chinese banquet-style arrangement. It was confirmed that these images are genuine and not AI-generated.
