From 11 to 13 September 2026, the southern region will see increased rainfall with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. The lower central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the eastern region will have some heavy rain, while the northern and northeastern regions will experience reduced rainfall.
This is due to a high-pressure system or cold air mass from southern China spreading over the northern and upper northeastern regions, causing the monsoon trough to shift southward across the lower central region, upper southern region, upper Gulf of Thailand, and the eastern region, reaching a strong low-pressure area in the central South China Sea. Concurrently, the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, southern region, and the Gulf of Thailand is intensifying.
People are advised to be cautious of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff. Those living near foothills, waterways, and low-lying areas should avoid traveling through routes prone to recurring flooding, especially low-lying areas where short-term flooding may occur.
Additionally, the strong low-pressure area in the central South China Sea is expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone, likely approaching the northern coast of Vietnam around 13-14 September 2026. The public should continuously follow weather updates during this period.
