The Meteorological Department has issued its 10th "Heavy Rainfall" warning, noting increased and heavy to very heavy rain in parts of southern Thailand. Check the list of provinces at risk and be alert for flooding and flash floods between 11-13 September 2026.
On 11 September 2026, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentissued the 10th announcement on heavy to very heavy rainfall in Thailand, stating that between 11-13 September 2026, southern Thailand will see increased and heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. The lower central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the eastern region will experience heavy rain in some places, while the north and northeast will see reduced rainfall.
This is due to a high-pressure system or cold air mass from southern China spreading over northern and upper northeastern Thailand, causing the monsoon trough to shift southward across the lower central region, upper southern region, upper Gulf of Thailand, and the eastern region, reaching a strong low-pressure system over the central South China Sea. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand is strengthening.
The public is advised to be cautious of heavy to very heavy rainfall and accumulated rain that may cause flash floods and flash floods from mountain runoff. Those living near streams and low-lying areas should avoid traveling through frequently flooded routes, especially low-lying areas where short-term waterlogging may occur.
Furthermore, the strong low-pressure system over the central South China Sea is expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone, likely approaching northern Vietnam’s coast around 13-14 September 2026. The public should continue to follow weather updates closely during this period.
