Meteorological Announcement No. 12 warns that several provinces continue to experience "heavy to very heavy rain," especially in the southern region, and advises vigilance against dangers from flash floods and mountain runoff caused by heavy rain.
On 12 September 2026, the website reportedthe Meteorological Departmentissued Announcement No. 12 regarding heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand. It stated that during 12-13 September 2026, the southern region will have heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. The lower northern region, northeastern region, central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the eastern region will experience heavy rain in some places. This is due to a high-pressure area or cold air mass from China covering the upper northern and upper northeastern regions, while a monsoon trough passes through the lower central region, upper southern region, upper Gulf of Thailand, and eastern region. This coincides with a strong low-pressure area over the central coast of Vietnam, along with a strengthening southwest monsoon blowing over the Andaman Sea, southern region, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The public is advised to be cautious of the dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and mountain runoff. Those in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying areas should avoid traveling through routes prone to repeated flooding, especially lowland areas where short-term waterlogging may occur.
Furthermore, the strong low-pressure area over the central coast of Vietnam is expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone and is forecasted to approach the northern coast of Vietnam during 13-14 September 2026. The public is urged to continuously monitor weather forecasts during this period.
For safety and to minimize potential impacts, people are advised to carefully plan their activities and travel during this time. They should follow announcements from the Meteorological Department and can access information on the department’s website.http://www.tmd.go.thor call 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours a day.
