An 18-year-old woman, victim of a drunk-driving village headman who rear-ended her motorcycle in Mukdahan, has died. Her father weeps as the dream of seeing his daughter become a nurse, which she had planned, has collapsed. The perpetrator visited only twice.
On 2 August at 16:00, Miss May, aged 18, accompanied by her 46-year-old mother, was riding a motorcycle along the route from Dong Luang district to Ban Non Tum. A car suddenly crashed into the rear of their motorcycle with great force, causing both to sustain serious injuries. The driver was identified as a village headman in the area. Police measured his blood alcohol concentration at 121 mg%, exceeding legal limits. Following the accident, Miss May underwent multiple surgeries, with medical expenses reaching hundreds of thousands of baht.
The latest update this morning (18 September 2026) reports that Miss May, who suffered severe injuries from the car-motorcycle collision in front of Traimit Wittayakhom School, Phueng Daet subdistrict, Mueang district, Mukdahan province, has passed away after medical staff exhausted all efforts to save her.
Due to the accident, Miss May suffered severe head trauma, requiring two skull surgeries and ongoing treatment. Her parents and relatives hoped for a miracle that she would recover and fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse to help others. However, the hoped-for miracle did not occur.
Mr. Kongsri, 56, May’s father, tearfully revealed that his daughter dreamed of becoming a nurse and ranked fifth in her exam to study as a nursing assistant. However, the family lacked funds to support her studies, so she postponed them this year, intending to save money for next year. Tragically, she was involved in an accident caused by a drunk driver, shattering the family’s dream of seeing their daughter pursue a good profession to support them. The perpetrator, the village headman, visited only twice and provided about 30,000 baht in financial help but never returned until May’s death.
