In Pathum Thani, a mother driving her children back from eating grilled pork crashed her car into the rear of a 10-wheel truck, severely damaging the vehicle. The 9-year-old daughter died at the scene, while the mother and 4-year-old son were injured and taken to hospital.
At 04:00 on 18 September 2026, Police Inspector Sakdisit Boonrub, investigator at Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station, received a report of a car crashing into the rear of a 10-wheel truck with injured and deceased occupants trapped inside the wreckage. The incident occurred on Taling Chan-Suphanburi Road (heading toward Nopphawong junction), Moo 1, Naimai Subdistrict, Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province. Investigators, forensic doctors, and volunteers from Poh Teck Tung Foundation with rescue equipment promptly responded to the scene.
At the scene, a Fuso brand 10-wheel truck carrying empty chicken crates, registered in Lopburi, was parked by the roadside. The driver, Mr. Samran, 41, from Chonburi, was standing nearby giving a statement to officials and was uninjured. Behind the truck was a bronze-gold Toyota Vios registered in Bangkok, which had crashed tightly into the truck's rear, sustaining extensive damage.
Inside the car, two injured people were found: the driver, Ms. Napatsorn, 36, who suffered head injuries and a torn right ear, and her 4-year-old son, Piyabut, who had an injury on the back of his left foot. Rescue workers rushed them to Krungthai Western Hospital in Bang Bua Thong. Additionally, the body of the deceased, 9-year-old daughter Kanteera, was found trapped inside and was extricated using cutting equipment.
Mr. Samran, the truck driver, said he was driving from Lam Luk Ka District to pick up chickens in Kanchanaburi Province. It was raining at the accident site. He heard an unusual noise from the truck's rear but saw nothing unusual through the side mirrors. Only when another driver behind honked and lowered their window to warn him about the collision did he stop and find the car had crashed fully into his truck's rear. He then promptly alerted authorities.
Later, the injured woman's husband and the father of the deceased arrived at the scene and provided preliminary information to police that his wife and children had gone to eat grilled pork with friends in the Bang Bua Thong area. They were apparently driving back to their home in Rat Ni Yom Subdistrict, Sai Noi District, when the accident occurred, and they received the tragic news from officials.
Initially, investigators documented the accident scene with photographs as evidence and assigned Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteers to transport the deceased's body to the Institute of Forensic Science, Ministry of Justice, for examination. They will also coordinate with the family for funeral arrangements according to tradition.
