In Buriram, a modified pickup truck crashed into the rear of a fully loaded 22-wheel asphalt truck, seriously injuring three people. The driver, a 33-year-old man, and his two 13-year-old nephews were trapped inside the wreckage. Witnesses reported seeing the pickup speeding before braking sharply, creating smoke, and then colliding forcefully with the truck’s rear.
On 20 Sep 2026 at 14:00, Police Lieutenant Colonel Anusorn Sriprom, deputy investigator at Ban Bua Police Station, Prakhon Chai District, Buriram Province, received a report of a pickup truck rear-ending a trailer truck with injured occupants trapped inside. Rescue teams from Sawangjanya Tham, Prakhon Chai station, and Ban Song Muang were dispatched with cutting equipment to assist.
At the scene on the four-lane Prakhon Chai-Ban Kruat Road with a median strip, near the U-turn point in Moo 9, Ban Non Sila, Khao Khok Subdistrict, Prakhon Chai District, Buriram Province, authorities found a 22-wheel Hino trailer truck, mother unit license plate 83-8651 Buriram and trailer license plate 82-3205 Buriram, fully loaded with asphalt, parked in the right lane heading into Prakhon Chai District.
Behind the truck, there was a bronze silver Isuzu pickup truck, license plate Bs-9925 Buriram, with severe front-end damage from the collision. Inside were three injured individuals: Mr. Thawisak Kaewpratum, 33, from Sanam Chai Subdistrict, Satuek District, Buriram Province, the driver; and two 13-year-old boys who were his nephews. All three were trapped inside the wreckage.
Rescue workers used cutting tools to free the trapped victims, taking about 30 minutes to remove all injured from the vehicle. They were then rushed to Prakhon Chai Hospital. Initially, all three were reported to be in serious condition.
Mr. Thanakrit Boonphongsri, 54, a witness, said he saw the trailer truck making a U-turn at the scene to prepare to turn into an alley. Then he saw the pickup truck speeding, losing control, and violently crashing into the rear of the trailer, causing a loud noise.
Mr. Phet Soidee, 53, the trailer truck driver, said he was transporting asphalt to a construction site in Buriram Province. After completing the U-turn and preparing to turn into an alley, he saw the pickup truck speeding, then braking sharply, producing smoke. The pickup then crashed heavily into the rear of his truck.
Preliminary police investigation is ongoing to collect evidence and examine details to determine the true cause of the accident, with legal proceedings to follow accordingly.
