On 21 September 2026, reports emerged of a shocking case where relatives announced the search for Ms. Duangporn, or "Nong Jeans," 35, from Phimai district, Nakhon Ratchasima. She had disappeared without contact. Initially, she had worked in South Korea for over 10 years, then returned to Thailand for about a year, telling relatives she had a Korean boyfriend who would help her get a visa to return to South Korea.
In August, Ms. Duangporn returned to South Korea and stayed in touch with relatives throughout. However, from September onward, her family in Thailand lost all contact, causing great worry and prompting them to announce a search.
It was later revealed on social media that Ms. Duangporn was strangled to death by her Taiwanese boyfriend in a fit of anger after she broke up with him. He then hid her body for six days before it was discovered.
Yesterday afternoon (20 September), reporters visited the office of the village headman at Sama Kha village, Moo 2, Nai Mueang subdistrict, Phimai district, Nakhon Ratchasima, and met with Mrs. Prapawarin Siriart, the village head, to inquire about the death of Ms. Duangporn, or Jeans, 35, from Nai Mueang, Phimai. She was strangled by her Taiwanese boyfriend and her body was stuffed into a suitcase and hidden for over six days in Taiwan. This followed relatives posting search appeals on social media and learning that Jeans had become a murder victim abroad.
Mrs. Prapawarin explained that Ms. Duangporn, or Jeans, was originally from their village but did not live there; she worked and lived elsewhere. It was known she had a foreign boyfriend. Her mother had passed away years ago, and information about her father was unknown. Recently, relatives posted appeals searching for her.
On the morning of 19 September 2026, Mr. Saiwai Kittithirakul, mayor of Nai Mueang subdistrict, Phimai, informed that consular officials had confirmed the discovery of Ms. Duangporn’s body in Taiwan, confirming the murder, matching the relatives' online search posts. He immediately informed the family of this tragic news.
Ms. Yanisa, 49, a cousin of the deceased, said Jeans was an only child. Her mother died when Jeans was a child, and her father was unknown as he left before her birth. She lived with her grandmother, who has also since passed away. After finishing high school, Jeans worked in Bangkok.
She later worked in South Korea and had a boyfriend there, living there for about 10 years. She had recently returned to Thailand about a year ago, renting a condo in Bangkok. Ms. Yanisa did not know the exact location but said Jeans regularly called and contacted her as a cousin.
The last contact was on 2 September 2026, when Jeans said she planned to visit her boyfriend in South Korea. Afterwards, she could not be reached; messages were unread, and there was no activity on her Facebook, despite normally posting daily life updates. A friend in Korea contacted another cousin asking if Jeans had returned to Thailand, as she was unreachable.
Upon learning this, Ms. Yanisa posted appeals across channels to find Jeans, only to learn she had been murdered in Taiwan. The family knows no details about the cause or circumstances. They have authorized the Office for the Protection and Care of Thai Nationals Abroad to handle the body and pursue the case legally.
