On 21 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Deputy Minister of Transport Phatthapong Phatrapasit stated he received a report from Kajaphon Udomthumphakdi, Governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), that this morning (21 Sep) the Blue Line MRT has resumed normal service at all stations. This followed an electrical short circuit on a cable near the Blue Line MRT track, which forced a temporary suspension of service between Bang O and Kamphaeng Phet stations to repair the track and power systems. Train service resumed normally from 05:37.
Regarding the cause, MRTA initially reported that a spark from a 750-volt direct current cable set caused damage to the power supply and signaling systems. Officials repaired the cable set, power rails, and signaling systems, and thoroughly inspected the entire system’s safety before resuming normal service.
In closing, Phatthapong thanked all officials involved for their overnight efforts to quickly repair the system so that the Blue Line MRT could resume normal service this morning. He assured the public that the system’s safety has been fully checked before reopening, enabling seamless travel for commuters at the start of the week.
