Meteorological Department Issue 2 Warns Several Provinces to Beware of Heavy Rainfall from 23 to 27 Sep 2026

The Meteorological Department issued its second bulletin warning of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain. Small boats in the upper Gulf of Thailand should refrain from leaving shore. The alert is effective from 23 to 27 September 2026.

On 22 September 2026, the Meteorological Department issued Bulletin No. 2 (218/2569) regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall over Thailand, effective from 23 to 27 September 2026.

From 23 to 27 September 2026, heavy rainfall is expected in many areas across the North, lower Northeast, Central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East, and the South. The rain will begin in the lower Northeast and East regions first, with other areas affected subsequently.

This is due to a strong low-pressure system over the central coast of Vietnam moving to cover the lower Northeast, East, Central regions including Bangkok and its vicinity along the monsoon trough crossing upper Thailand, while the southwest monsoon blowing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand is intensifying.

The public in Thailand should beware of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and continuous rainfall accumulation, which may cause flash floods and flash flooding, especially in foothill areas near waterways and lowlands. People should avoid traveling through frequently flooded routes, particularly low-lying areas prone to short-term flooding.

Waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will strengthen. In the upper Gulf of Thailand, waves will be 2-3 meters high, with waves exceeding 3 meters in areas of thunderstorms. In the lower Gulf and upper Andaman Sea, waves will be about 2 meters high, rising above 2 meters during thunderstorms. Mariners in the Gulf and Andaman Sea should navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the upper Gulf of Thailand should not leave shore from 23 to 27 September 2026.
