Continuous overnight rainstorm in Prachinburi has caused flooding in multiple areas, beginning to overflow onto roads in the 100-year-old old market community, while Highway 304 is also flooded. Officials are closely monitoring the situation.
On 22 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reports indicated that at 18:12 on 21 Sep, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) issued warnings about heavy and accumulated rainfall in the headwater areas, causing rising water levels in the Prachinburi River.
The DDPM urged residents living along the Prachinburi River and in low-lying areas, especially the Old Market community in Kabin Subdistrict Municipality, Kabin Buri District, and riverside communities in Ban Tham Subdistrict, Sri Maha Phot District, to closely monitor the situation. They advised moving belongings to higher ground, relocating vehicles to safe areas, securing important documents, exercising caution with electrical currents, and taking special care of children, the elderly, patients, and vulnerable groups.
Throughout the previous night in Kabin Buri District, continuous rainfall caused water from the Khao Yai area to flow into the Hanuman tributary, resulting in steadily rising water levels in the Prachinburi River.
The latest situation this morning (22 Sep 2026 GMT+7) shows that Highway 304 in front of Nong Ki Subdistrict Municipality has floodwaters 20-70 cm deep on the road surface due to overnight heavy rain. Cars and trucks can still pass, but travelers are advised to exercise caution, with traffic congestion extending over 2 kilometers.
Additionally, floodwater has entered the lower floors of buildings at Ban Khok Udom Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, damaging some medical equipment and documents. Traffic police from Kabin Buri Police Station and highway officers are managing traffic in the affected area.
In Mueang Prachinburi District, Mr. Thongchai Butrongs, District Chief, inspected flood areas at Wat Chaeng Prachinburi after heavy overnight rains caused poor drainage and flooding in the Wat Chaeng community, affecting 3-4 households and several roads.
At 06:00 on 22 Sep 2026 GMT+7, water level measurements at the Kabin Buri Meteorological Station recorded 8.82 meters, with a continuing upward trend. Accumulated rainfall measured 60.4 millimeters.
The rising water level has caused flooding to begin entering parts of the road in the Old Market community, known as the “100-Year Market,” within Kabin Subdistrict Municipality. Residents are advised to closely follow official announcements and prepare for further water level increases.
Mr. Jamnong Pengsamrueng, Deputy Mayor of Nong Ki Municipality, said that heavy, continuous rain overnight caused water runoff from the industrial zone to exceed drainage capacity, flooding the roads. The DDPM will install water pumps to expedite drainage. The Ban Khok Udom Health Promoting Hospital’s medical equipment and some documents have been significantly damaged. Nong Ki Municipality will continue to monitor the situation closely.
The situation requires ongoing monitoring as rain continues in headwater areas, which may increase water flow into the Prachinburi River and cause water levels to rise further.
