Meanwhile, social media shared messages from a popular page warning to monitor the situation for 120 hours ahead, but the page has since disappeared.
On 22 September 2026, reporters noted that a popular page circulated messages advising people to watch for 120 hours ahead, warning that the eastern region may experience continuous heavy rain and risk major flooding across the region, as well as in other provinces including Bangkok and its vicinity.
The page claimed that from the night of 24–27 September 2026, heavy and continuous rain would persist all day and night in lowland areas of Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chanthaburi, Trat, including Khao Yai, central plains, Bangkok, and surrounding provinces. It advised close monitoring of updates and preparation of necessary supplies.
The page also added a note urging people not to panic, stating this was only a forecast based on models, and that the severity analysis could still change.
However, latest checks found that the page has disappeared. Previously, the page warned of severe flooding in Hat Yai, and six days later, government officials clarified it was misinformation, although severe flooding did eventually occur in Hat Yai.
Recently, the Meteorological Department explained that heavy rain during 23-27 September 2026 is due to a strong low-pressure system moving through Cambodia and Vietnam into eastern and central Thailand, increasing rainfall in northeastern mid and lower parts, eastern region, lower northern region, central region, and central to upper southern regions. This will cause heavy to very heavy rain in many areas. Locations with prior heavy rainfall should exercise extra caution as flash floods, flooding, and landslides may occur.
The strong low-pressure area will begin to pass over Thailand from 24-25 September. Rain influenced by this system will cover many areas, falling intermittently with breaks, and there is no chance of storm development.
Today (22 Sep), heavy rain is already expected in some areas, especially central region, Bangkok, and eastern region, where accumulated rainfall may cause flooding. Some flood response plans have been put in place in these areas.
