Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan held a ceremonial chanting of auspicious verses, a tribute, and a reception of royal certificates and rank fans for 8 senior monks on Monday, 21 Sep 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the ordination hall of Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan. This event allowed monks, disciples, and Buddhists to express their congratulations on this auspicious occasion, while launching a new digital-era souvenir—a QR Code card for scanning to download e-books compiling valuable Buddhist knowledge and historical content.
Following the publication of the Royal Gazette announcing the royal appointment and promotion of ecclesiastical ranks for 8 senior monks of Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan, joy spread among the monastic community and disciples. The National Office of Buddhism invited the monks to receive the royal certificates, rank fans, and robes at Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram on 21 Sep 2026.
On this occasion, Wat Saket scheduled a ceremonial chanting of auspicious verses, a tribute, and reception of royal certificates and rank fans at 3:00 p.m. in the ordination hall of Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan, enabling Buddhists to pay respects and express gratitude to the monks honored with their ecclesiastical ranks at this important monastic milestone.
A highlight of the event, besides the tribute ceremony, was the opportunity for attendees to meet closely with five senior monks noted for their work in education and compiling historical monastic texts, and to receive a new-concept souvenir that integrates Buddhism with modern technology.
The souvenir was designed as a “QR Code card” allowing recipients to scan with smartphones and instantly download e-books. Two valuable books were included:
1. "Ten Lives: The Unchanging Resolve of a Great Being, Yanwachira Edition"
This book presents stories from the Ten Jataka Tales with teachings and reflections on the bodhisattva’s practice of perfection, linking Buddhist principles with practical life guidance.
2. "Biography of Somdet Phra Phutthachan (Kiao Uppaseno Maha Thera) and the Case of Wat Saket Monks"
This book compiles stories, biography, and significant events related to Somdet Phra Phutthachan (Kiao Uppaseno Maha Thera), along with the historical context of the monastic community at Wat Saket. It serves as an important historical source for those studying Buddhism and Thai monastic history.
Transitioning souvenirs from printed books to QR Codes linking to e-books aligns with digital learning habits, allowing recipients to store the books on their phones and read anytime, anywhere. This also broadens access to Buddhist knowledge and monastic history for younger generations.
