Suphanburi City administrative officials, coordinating with multiple agencies, raided a construction camp and found 18 foreign workers. Sixteen were using fake work permits, while two had overstayed their allowed period. Authorities proceeded with legal action and are expanding investigations to find the network producing the forged documents.
At 11:00 on 22 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Suphanburi City administrative officers, in cooperation with the Department of Employment, Internal Security Operations Command, Immigration Police, and the Office of Labour Protection and Welfare, inspected foreign labor use in the area after detecting irregularities from inspecting a truck carrying foreign workers at a checkpoint in Phai Khwang subdistrict, Suphanburi City district.
During the inspection, officials found a truck carrying foreign workers passing through the checkpoint. The driver and workers showed work permits, but officials noticed irregularities: QR codes could not display data and the document fonts looked suspicious. They took the permits for detailed examination and found them to be fake work permits.
Officials coordinated with relevant agencies to continue inspections at a construction camp within Suan Dusit University, Suphanburi campus, in Khok Khotao subdistrict, Suphanburi City district. They found 18 foreign workers and requested detailed verification of their identity documents and work permits.
The inspection results showed that among the 18, two workers had valid permits but had overstayed their authorized period. The other 16 were found to be using expertly forged work permits that closely imitated genuine documents.
All the foreign workers consisted of 16 Burmese and 2 Cambodian nationals. Officials discovered that the two Cambodians had falsified documents claiming Laotian nationality to enable them to work in Thailand.
Initially, officials detained all the foreign workers, notified them of charges related to their offenses, and handed them over to investigators at Suphanburi City Police Station to proceed with legal action.
The charges include entering and residing in Thailand without permission, working without a permit, and forging and using fake official documents. Authorities will continue to investigate and extend the inquiry to those involved in producing or procuring the forged documents.
