The Meteorological Department Issue 4 warns all of Thailand to prepare for heavy rain from 23 to 27 September 2026. Watch for flash floods and forest runoff. Small boats in the upper Gulf of Thailand should refrain from going out to sea.

Between 23-27 September 2026, the northern region, lower northeastern region, central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, eastern region, and southern region will experience heavy rain in many areas and very heavy rain in some places. The rain will begin in the lower northeastern and eastern regions first, with other regions affected later.

This is due to a strong low-pressure area near the central coast of Vietnam moving to cover the lower northeastern, eastern, and central regions including Bangkok and its vicinity along a monsoon trough passing through upper Thailand. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand is intensifying.

People across Thailand should be cautious of heavy to very heavy rain and continuous rainfall accumulation, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and lowlands. Avoid traveling through frequently flooded routes, particularly low-lying areas prone to short-term waterlogging.

Waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will strengthen. In the upper Gulf of Thailand, waves will be 2-3 meters high, with thunderstorms causing waves over 3 meters. In the lower Gulf and upper Andaman Sea, waves will be about 2 meters, with thunderstorms causing waves over 2 meters. Mariners in these areas should navigate carefully and avoid sailing in thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Gulf should stay ashore from 24-27 September 2026.
