In Pattaya, continuous heavy rain caused flooding at multiple low-lying spots, with water levels reaching nearly one meter in some areas. Small vehicles could not pass. Officials are rushing to drain the water and have closed roads to manage traffic.
At approximately 12:30 on 23 Sep 2026, Pattaya city in Chonburi province experienced heavy and persistent rainfall, causing rapid flooding in several low-lying and flood-prone areas. In some locations, water levels reached about one meter. Authorities acted quickly to drain the water and closed roads with high water levels to ensure public safety.
Inspections found several affected areas, including Pattaya Third Road near Mum Aroi, Sukhumvit Road in the Pattaya highway section, and the road alongside the railway near Wat Thammasamakkhi. In particular, places with deep flooding prevented small vehicles from passing. Officials controlled traffic and worked to drain the water from these areas.
This situation aligns with the Meteorological Department's fourth bulletin, which warns that from 23 to 27 Sep 2026, the eastern region will experience heavy to very heavy rain in many areas due to a strong low-pressure system moving along the monsoon trough, combined with a strengthening southwest monsoon. The warning also advises caution for flash floods and water accumulation in low-lying areas.
For today's eastern region forecast, the Meteorological Department reports thunderstorms with an 80% chance of rain in the area, including heavy rainfall in Chonburi province. From 23 to 27 Sep, the eastern region has a 70-80% chance of thunderstorms and heavy to very heavy rain in some places.
Initially, Pattaya city officials continue to monitor the situation closely and work to drain water at vulnerable points. Meanwhile, residents are advised to avoid routes with heavy flooding and to stay updated on rainfall developments.
However, at 13:40, water levels on South Pattaya's Sukhumvit Road began to recede, and traffic returned to normal.
