On 23 Sep, reporters reported that Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production Ltd. and its joint venture companies continued restoring the mangrove ecosystem and promoting biodiversity through supporting mangrove planting and aquatic animal release projects organized by fisheries organizations in Samut Songkhram province. They provided funding of 100,000 baht and brought volunteer employees to join the activities. Mrs. Tipwadee Thaisiri, Government Affairs Manager, represented the company at the event, joined by Mr. Mongkol Sukcharoenkana, President of Samut Songkhram Fisheries Association; Mr. Chinnachai Sathirayakorn, President of Samut Songkhram Pair Trawl Fisheries Association; and representatives from fisheries and local communities at Moo 2, Khlong Khon Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Songkhram.
This project is a collaboration among fisheries organizations in Samut Songkhram, including the Mae Klong Fisheries Cooperative, Samut Songkhram Fisheries Association, and Samut Songkhram Pair Trawl Fisheries Association, aiming to promote responsible and sustainable fishing alongside raising environmental awareness. Mangroves are vital ecosystems that nurture biodiversity and support the abundance of fishery resources. Participants learned about the mangrove ecosystem, released aquatic animals, and engaged in supplementary mangrove planting within the main forest to enhance area fertility and deepen understanding of the natural resources essential to local fishing livelihoods.
This support is a joint effort between Chevron and its joint venture companies, including Mitsui Energy Development Company Limited, PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited, and Palang Sophon Company Limited, to promote environmental conservation and economic development. It also encourages employee participation in community activities through collaboration with various sectors, focusing on conserving natural resources that form the foundation of local livelihoods and economy, thereby helping to sustain the abundance of natural resources for the community's future.
