Nakhon Ratchasima – A day combining great merit and grand entertainment! Wang Nam Khiao is hosting the largest green sandstone statue of Luang Pho Khun, distributing free "Kru Taek" sacred amulets, along with a major concert to welcome the cool winds on 4 October 2026 GMT+7.
Wang Nam Khiao district is preparing to open its doors to disciples and tourists from all over for the year's grandest merit-making and entertainment event, scheduled for Sunday, 4 October 2026 GMT+7. The event celebrates Luang Pho Khun Parisuttho’s birthday and aims to establish Wang Nam Khiao as a new center of faith and a key tourist destination in the province.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Mahakphan Surakup, former Deputy Commander of the Provincial Police Region 3 and chairman of the Luang Pho Khun Parisuttho Foundation in Wang Nam Khiao, revealed that the event aims to spread the merit and teachings of Luang Pho Khun. It will also unveil the Foundation's new office, now located alongside main Route 304 in Wang Nam Khiao subdistrict, to facilitate worshippers in the northeastern region without needing to travel far to Wat Ban Rai. Additionally, it seeks to promote tourism and sustainably boost the local economy in Wang Nam Khiao district.
The morning ceremony will feature a grand merit celebration of the largest green sandstone statue of Luang Pho Khun Parisuttho. The event is honored by the presence of Phra Thepsimaphon (Wanchai Kantasari), the Provincial Chief Monk of Nakhon Ratchasima, as the chief Buddhist officiant. Dr. Yolda Wangsupakijkosol, President of the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization, and the Deputy Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima will co-chair the lay officials. Activities begin at 07:30 with a Brahmin ritual, followed by Korat songs and a traditional boxing dance dedicated to Luang Pho Khun. The opening of the Thep Prathanporn building plaque will take place at 10:15, followed by the Foundation’s plaque unveiling at 10:30, and then a meal offering ceremony.
The event’s highlight for attendees is the free distribution of the sacred "Kru Taek" amulets. These valuable amulets, discovered on the ceiling during the demolition of a building at Wat Ban Rai, will be given to disciples and devotees attending this special occasion.
In the afternoon and evening, the atmosphere will shift to festive fun welcoming the first cool breeze at The Lakeside By Krathom Hin, Wang Nam Khiao, with the concert "Embracing the Mountains, Telling Stories" under the theme "Invite You to Meet the First Cold." Doors open at 17:00 with tickets priced at 150 baht. Six beloved Isan artists will perform starting at 18:30: An Lano, Oaf Songkran, Kay Ton Nam Chi, Plai Kanokporn, Tee T-Rex, and concluding with an energetic performance by Lumplern Wongsakorn at 23:10.
