Phuket – A sedan lost control and crashed into roadside shops on Airport Road, resulting in fatalities and injuries. Sakoo Police have taken the driver into custody for drug and alcohol testing at the station and are proceeding with legal action.
At 09:30 on 23 Sep 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Akrapol Siwilai Chapinya, Investigation Officer at Sakoo Police Station, received a report from Sakoo Subdistrict Ambulance Rescue that a sedan had crashed into the Health Express pharmacy on Airport Road, Moo 1, Sakoo Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket, causing injuries and a fatality. He, along with Police Colonel Salan Santisasanakul, Sakoo Police Chief, patrol officers, the on-duty doctor from Thalang Hospital, and Sakoo rescue team rushed to the scene.
At the scene, the pharmacy located along the road was severely damaged by a gray MG 4 sedan, license plate 6กว 8243 Bangkok, which had crashed inside. The shop was heavily damaged with shattered glass scattered on the floor. In front of the store lay the body of Ms. Thanapak Talwalee, 58, deceased. Another injured person, Mr. Kitti Puenlen, 33, was taken to Thalang Hospital by rescue workers. The driver, Mr. Samrit, 41, was found standing at the scene waiting for the police. The deceased's body was sent to Thalang Hospital for a detailed autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Police have taken Mr. Samrit into custody to undergo drug and alcohol testing at Sakoo Police Station.
CCTV footage from in front of the shops showed that before the crash, the sedan was driving along the road and then suddenly sped into the shops, hitting Jann-Prod Thai Street Food By WinIrobchef, Health Express pharmacy, and Phuket Summer Health Massage parlor. This caused the immediate death of Ms. Thanapak, a vendor who was setting up in front of the Thai Street Food shop. Investigations into the exact facts of the accident are ongoing.
