Phuket residents are proud as 16-year-old Nene Royal wins the global America’s Got Talent 2026 championship, taking home $1 million and inspiring many young Thais.
On 24 September 2026, it was reported that Nene Royal, also known as Praew Rattikan Amloy, a 16-year-old singer and guitarist from Phuket, brought pride to her family, Phuket residents, and all Thais by winning the global talent competition America’s Got Talent 2026 (AGT Season 21), along with a $1 million prize.
In the final competition, Nene Royal took the stage performing “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes in her unique rock style, showcasing powerful vocals and guitar skills amid cheers from audiences and fans worldwide, ultimately securing the championship.
Nene’s journey began impressively in the audition round with her rendition of “Zombie” by The Cranberries, advancing through subsequent rounds. She notably surprised audiences by receiving a Golden Buzzer from Mel B for her performance of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun,” which granted her automatic entry to the finals.
Throughout the competition, Nene attracted attention from fans both in Thailand and internationally, culminating in her winning America’s Got Talent 2026 and marking a significant achievement for Thai youth on the global stage.
After the results were announced, the atmosphere at Khajornkiat Suksa School (KIS Phuket), Nene’s school in Kathu, was vibrant as students and teachers gathered to watch and cheer. When Nene was declared champion, everyone applauded and celebrated together, reflecting the pride of her peers, teachers, and the educational community who have followed her journey.
Mrs. Suphanit Theerawatthanasarn, 62, from Phuket, said she felt happy and proud that Nene is from Phuket and has brought recognition to the province. She added that Nene has been a lovely child since young and that she has followed and cheered for her throughout, feeling very pleased and joyful at this success.
Meanwhile, Ms. Natnaree Likhitwatthanasakul expressed joy and said she had been following the competition closely. She said Nene’s victory is a source of pride for Phuket residents, especially given her young age of just 16, and her rapid development within only a few months.
Ms. Natnaree added that Nene’s success is an inspiration to many Thai children, not just those in Phuket, as she has proven that if you pursue what you love and try your best, anyone can follow their dreams and achieve success.
Particularly noteworthy is Nene’s opportunity to perform alongside the world-famous rock band Linkin Park, highlighting the talent of this 16-year-old girl from Phuket who quickly rose to stand on the global stage. She expressed hope that this success will lead to a bright future and continued growth in her music career.
Ms. Supakarn, 40, said she was very happy because she has followed and supported Nene all along. She wished to congratulate Nene’s family and felt happy on behalf of the parents who have seen their daughter succeed on the global stage.
