Meteorological Department Issues 7th Warning of Very Heavy Rain in Thailand Lists Provinces at Risk for Flash Flooding

The Meteorological Department issued its 7th bulletin warning of heavy to very heavy rain across Thailand, advising vigilance against the danger of continuous accumulated rainfall that could cause flash floods and mountain runoff flooding. It also provided a list of provinces at risk of impact due to these conditions.

On 24 September 2026, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentannounced its 7th bulletin concerning heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand. It stated that from 24 to 27 September 2026, heavy rain will occur in many areas across the North, lower Northeast, Central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East, and the South, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain.

This is due to a strong low-pressure system over Cambodia moving to cover the lower Northeast, East, Central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, following the monsoon trough stretching across upper Thailand. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon blowing over the Andaman Sea, South, and Gulf of Thailand is strengthening.

The public across Thailand is advised to be cautious of heavy to very heavy rain and continuous accumulated rainfall, which could cause flash floods and mountain runoff flooding, especially in hillside areas near watercourses and low-lying areas. People should avoid traveling through frequently flooded routes, particularly low-lying zones, where short-term flooding may occur.

Waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will intensify. In the upper Gulf of Thailand and upper Andaman Sea, waves will be 2-3 meters high, exceeding 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. In the lower Gulf of Thailand and lower Andaman Sea, waves will reach about 2 meters, rising above 2 meters where thunderstorms occur. Mariners in these waters should navigate with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Gulf of Thailand and upper Andaman Sea should not depart until 27 September 2026.
