EGAT is advancing electrical system stability by commissioning the Sam Khok High-Voltage Power Station in Pathum Thani Province, increasing capacity and efficiency of power transmission to meet growing electricity demand in the metropolitan and upper central regions.
On 25 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reports stated that yesterday (24 Sep), Mr. Ongkarn Thongniramon, Deputy Governor of Pathum Thani Province, along with Mr. Theerawut Wetatham, Deputy Governor for Transmission Development of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), officially opened the Sam Khok High-Voltage Power Station in Pathum Thani to enhance the area's electrical system stability and efficiency. Mr. Krisada Choeikan, Pathum Thani's Energy Provincial Officer, and local government executives also attended the event at the station located in Bang Toei Subdistrict, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani.
Mr. Ongkarn Thongniramon, Deputy Governor of Pathum Thani, stated that this high-voltage power station strengthens the electrical system's stability and reliability, efficiently meeting the increasing electricity demand in the area. It ensures sufficient and continuous power supply, especially amid the region's economic and community growth, supporting residents' daily lives as well as business and industrial operations. Additionally, it serves as key infrastructure facilitating Pathum Thani's ongoing economic and social development.
Mr. Theerawut Wetatham, EGAT's Deputy Governor for Transmission Development, said EGAT is committed to maintaining Thailand's power system stability to accommodate rising electricity needs from households, the economy, and industry. To achieve this, it is expanding the transmission network coverage. The Sam Khok High-Voltage Power Station, operating at 115, 230, and 500 kilovolts—the highest voltage level in Thailand—is designed to reinforce system security and enhance power transmission and distribution capacity, also preparing for future renewable energy growth.
Furthermore, the station supports emergency situations within the power transmission network by linking new power generation sources and renewable energy from the northern and northeastern regions into the system. It meets increasing electricity demand in Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani provinces and other areas in the future. This infrastructure is crucial to enhancing the national power grid's stability and reducing risks, ensuring reliable and continuous electricity supply for the public and businesses, thereby supporting future economic and social development.
The Sam Khok High-Voltage Power Station is situated on 208 rai in Bang Toei Subdistrict, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani. Construction is underway from 2022 to 2026. It connects high-voltage transmission lines including 500 kilovolt lines from Sam Khok to Tha Tako, Sam Khok to Chaeng Watthana, and Sai Noi to Sam Khok; 230 kilovolt lines from Sam Khok to Rangsit and Sam Khok to Navanakorn; and 115 kilovolt lines from Sam Khok to PEA.
