The park authority has ordered a temporary closure of Chet Sao Noi and Muak Lek waterfalls after muddy, fast-flowing flash floods from Khao Yai raised safety concerns for tourists.
On 25 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that in Saraburi province, heavy continuous rain caused flooding in many areas. At Khao Yai, flash floods flowed down into the lower canals, causing water levels to rise steadily.
Reporters visiting Chet Sao Noi Waterfall National Park in Muak Lek district, Saraburi province, found that park officials have prohibited tourist access to the area, fearing danger from the flash floods.
Mr. Somrak Chakithai, assistant head of Chet Sao Noi Waterfall National Park, said that heavy rain throughout the day has caused the water in Chet Sao Noi stream to rise and turn muddy red. This is due to flash floods from the mountain joining the stream, resulting in rapid, red-tinted water flow. The park fears tourists could be at risk, so it has announced a three-day closure from 25 to 27 September. Muak Lek Waterfall is also closed during this period.
Meanwhile, at Rai Rim Than Waterfall, located before Chet Sao Noi Waterfall, authorities have prohibited people from swimming due to safety concerns.
Nonetheless, Chet Sao Noi Waterfall park staff continue to monitor water levels in the area closely.
