At 5:00 p.m. on 25 Sep 2026, the Meteorological Department released its 9th announcement about heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand, effective until 27 Sep 2026. It stated that from 25 to 27 Sep 2026, the North, Northeast, Central regions including Bangkok and vicinity, East, and South will experience heavy rain in many areas and very heavy rain in some places.
This is due to a strong low-pressure area over the East moving to cover the Central region including Bangkok and its vicinity along a monsoon trough passing through upper Thailand, while the southwest monsoon strengthening over the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The public in Thailand is advised to be cautious of heavy to very heavy and continuous rainfall, which may cause flash floods and flash floods, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying areas. Avoid traveling through frequently flooded routes, particularly lowlands prone to short-term flooding.
Winds and waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are strengthening. The upper Gulf of Thailand and upper Andaman Sea have waves 2-3 meters high; areas with thunderstorms may see waves exceeding 3 meters. The lower Gulf and lower Andaman Sea have waves around 2 meters; thunderstorm areas may exceed 2 meters. Northeastern Region There is a 70% chance of thunderstorms and heavy rain in some areas including Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Surin, and Sisaket, with very heavy rain in parts of Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Buriram. Minimum temperatures are 22-25°C, maximum 27-33°C, with northeast winds at 10-25 km/h.
Central Region There is an 80% chance of thunderstorms and heavy rain in some areas including Uthai Thani, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Lopburi, and Saraburi, with very heavy rain in parts of Nakhon Sawan, Chai Nat, Ayutthaya, Suphanburi, Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi, Samut Sakhon, and Samut Songkhram. Southern Region (West Coast) There is a 40% chance of thunderstorms mostly in Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 23-26°C, maximum 30-34°C. From Phang Nga northwards: west winds at 20-35 km/h, sea waves about 2 meters, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. From Phuket southwards: southwest winds at 15-35 km/h, sea waves 1-2 meters, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas.
