In Prachinburi, flooding has reached over a meter in several spots. Military and rescue teams are rushing to evacuate residents to shelters and have deployed speedboats to assist monks trapped in quarters amid swift floodwaters.
On 25 Sep 2026 GMT+7, after several days of heavy rain, many areas in Prachinburi province experienced flooding, especially in four districts: Nadi, Kabin Buri, Si Maha Phot, and Mueang. In Kabin Buri, the 100-year-old market community saw rising water levels due to water released from the Phra Sathueang Canal in Sa Kaeo Province flowing into the Phra Prong River. This water converged with the Hanuman tributary, flooding the 100-year-old market community and nearby areas before moving downstream along the Prachinburi River to lower areas like Si Maha Phot District, affecting riverside communities.
Most recently, Ban Yanang Wing School (Rang Khrueapaen Utit) in Village 5, Tha Tum Subdistrict, Si Maha Phot District, Prachinburi, a small school with about 160 students, has been ordered closed. Authorities will assess daily when it can safely reopen.
Mr. Banterng Boonkerd, the school principal, said that due to continuous heavy rain, the river's water inflow increased beyond normal levels. While heavy rains were expected, no damage occurred as belongings were moved out the previous night. The school remains closed indefinitely, prioritizing student safety.
In Wang Tha Chang Subdistrict, Kabin Buri District, residents affected by flooding have called for military, rescue workers, and community leaders to bring large vehicles and flat-bottom boats to evacuate belongings and urgently remove bedridden patients, elderly people, and children from flooded areas.
Upon receiving reports, military personnel from the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Regiment, Prachinburi, the Internal Security Operations Command of Prachinburi, and rescue teams from the Sajja Phuttham Kabin Buri Foundation mobilized with vehicles to assist in moving belongings and evacuating bedridden patients, elderly, and children from homes submerged under approximately one meter of water, with water levels continuing to rise.
Mrs. Patarin Phumnee, Chief of Wang Tha Chang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, said that earlier this morning, they coordinated with rescue and military personnel to assist flood-affected residents. Reports from community leaders indicate all 23 villages are flooded, with expanding flood zones. The local administration has opened evacuation centers at the Wang Tha Chang administrative office and Wang Din So Temple for residents.
Additionally, authorities were informed that Ban Fang Khlong Monastery was flooded, with monks trapped in quarters since 04:00. Rescue teams from the Sajja Phuttham Kabin Buri Foundation were contacted. They found extensive floodwaters surrounding the monastery and strong currents, requiring a speedboat to safely evacuate the trapped monks.
Luang Pho Sombun Thanavaro said that due to the flooding, he has been trapped in his quarters since around 4 a.m. He noted the water came very fast, catching everyone off guard and leaving no time to prepare or save belongings.
