Bangkok has issued a declaration expanding disaster-affected areas to cover all 50 districts, upgrading flood management after heavy rain and waterlogging caused traffic problems that disrupted daily life.
On 26 September 2026, Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, as director of Bangkok, signed a declaration from the Bangkok Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center regarding disaster-affected areas in Bangkok. The area coverage was extended from the original districts of Nong Chok, Suan Luang, and Khan Na Yao to include all 50 districts of Bangkok (effective from 25 Sep 2026). This allows government agencies and local administrative organizations to act promptly and systematically within their authority in the affected areas.
The expansion follows ongoing heavy rainfall causing waterlogging, traffic problems, and impacts on daily life in Bangkok. These conditions could threaten life and health and damage property belonging to the public and the state. Therefore, it is necessary to extend the declared area to all 50 districts to enable timely disaster management and related operations.
Operations in the area will comply with the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Act B.E. 2550, the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Plan 2021–2027, the Bangkok Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Plan 2021–2027, as well as relevant laws, regulations, orders, declarations, and Cabinet resolutions. This framework ensures agencies can integrate efforts and carry out their missions appropriately to the situation.
Bangkok will closely monitor rainfall and waterlogging conditions and coordinate with relevant agencies to perform their duties, aiming to alleviate impacts and continuously care for residents across all areas.
