On 26 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reports indicated that due to waterlogging in many areas of Bangkok and the metropolitan region, the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) urged the public to closely follow weather updates and warnings from government and related agencies to prepare for potential flooding. PEA offers safety advice on electrical usage during flooding or waterlogging as follows.
Before floodwater enters the home or its vicinity, quickly move electrical appliances and essential items to higher or safe locations where floodwater cannot reach.
For single-story homes, completely stop using electricity and all electrical devices. Do not operate switches when wet or standing in water. Avoid using plugs submerged in floodwater as they pose serious risks to life.
For two-story homes with separate switches for each floor, if floodwater is about to cover the lower floor, turn off the electrical supply for that floor only. If flooding persists and residents must stay in the home, use electrical appliances on the upper floor. Electrical personnel from PEA or qualified electricians should turn off the lower floor’s switch. For safety, consult PEA officials or electricians to separate the electrical circuits of the upper and lower floors.
