Flooding in Chanthaburi remains unresolved in many areas. In Khao Khitchakut and Kaeng Hang Maeo districts, floodwaters continue to rise. Initial reports confirm 2 deaths and more than 200 households affected.
On 26 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that flash floods and river overflows have inundated roads, fruit orchards, and homes in Chanthaburi. The situation remains unresolved; water levels are stable in some areas but rising in others, such as in Khao Khitchakut and Kaeng Hang Maeo districts. Waters from Chanthaklem and Takhian canals flow into the areas of Ban Pluang and Ban Krating, causing the Chanthaburi River near Wat Krating to rise and flood the road surface. Traffic on the right side has been closed, and vehicles are directed to share the left side, with officials managing the flow.
Some residents living in low-lying areas cannot remain in their homes and have had to evacuate to relatives' houses. Officials from the district, municipality, local defense volunteers, and Sawang Katanyu Rescue team are helping move belongings to higher ground. However, some residents refuse to evacuate due to concern for their homes and property, so officials deliver food and water to them.
Along with teams from the district, municipality, Sawang Katanyu Rescue, village heads, and various agencies closely monitor and assist residents. Meanwhile, the local road connecting Makham and Khao Khitchakut districts is flooded by the Chanthaburi River, leading authorities to temporarily close traffic until conditions improve.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid this route or detour via Ban Puek-Ban Pluang-Rajamangala University of Technology route, which is farther from the river, though it is a longer distance.
From this flood situation, the Chanthaburi provincial command center initially reports 2 deaths in Kaeng Hang Maeo district, including one monk. Identification and coordination with officials are underway. The affected area covers 6 districts, 20 subdistricts, and 77 villages, with over 200 homes impacted.
Evacuation centers have been established across all affected districts, and cooked food is distributed to residents, victims, and relief personnel to ease burdens and provide support to those affected and the responders monitoring the situation.
