Soldiers from the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 4th Battalion, Somdej Chao Phraya Maha Kasatsuek Camp, Buriram Province, joined forces with related agencies to help move belongings to higher ground for safety after floodwaters inundated four subdistricts of Prakhon Chai District, with water levels at some points nearly 1 meter high.
On 26 Sep 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Jakkrit Piyasupharuek, Commander of the 4th Infantry Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment (Commander of 23rd Infantry Regiment, 4th Battalion) at Somdej Chao Phraya Maha Kasatsuek Camp, Buriram Province, led volunteer troops in coordination with local administration, community leaders, and officials to assist residents in Prakhon Chai District, Buriram Province, who were affected by flooding that submerged homes, agricultural land, livestock areas, and transportation routes.
Particularly at Ban Suksamran, Village No. 10, Nong Bon Subdistrict, Prakhon Chai District, Buriram, soldiers and related agencies assisted in moving residents’ belongings to higher ground to protect them from flood damage, as over 20 houses had already been submerged. In some areas, water levels reached nearly 1 meter. They also cleared waterways by removing aquatic plants and debris blocking water flow, especially near bridges over streams and canals, where water had flooded bridge decks and was obstructed by plant debris and waste.
Following continuous heavy rainfall and incoming floodwaters from Ban Kruat District, Buriram, and parts of Surin Province, the waters converged and inundated areas in Prakhon Chai District, Buriram, located at the border with Ban Kruat District and Prasat District, Surin Province. Initial surveys found that four subdistricts—Chorakhe Mak, Khao Khok, Khok Yang, and Nong Bon—comprising 25 villages, had already suffered damage and distress from the flooding.
The 4th Infantry Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, will continue collaborating with government agencies and related organizations in the area to urgently mobilize personnel and equipment to assist affected residents. This effort aims to alleviate the hardship faced by the community and is in line with the Royal Thai Army Commander’s policy directing military units in the area to provide assistance to distressed citizens whenever needed.
