A tragic event occurred in Phrai Bueng District, Sisaket Province, where a husband and wife died inside their flooded home. It is suspected they were electrocuted while preparing to pump out the floodwater. The Phrai Bueng Police Station is currently conducting a preliminary investigation to determine the true cause.
On 26 September 2026, Mr. Chalad Chitchom, District Chief of Phrai Bueng, Sisaket Province, ordered Mr. Theerayut Ratchapu, Deputy District Officer for Security Affairs, along with members of the Volunteer Defense Corps, Company 10, Phrai Bueng, to inspect the site after receiving a report of fatalities inside a house in Samrong Phlan Subdistrict, Phrai Bueng District.
Upon arrival at a house in Village No. 8, Samrong Phlan Subdistrict, Phrai Bueng District, officials found two deceased persons at the scene, identified as Mr. Pongsasin Srithanarat and Mrs. Thanyanan Srithanarat, a married couple. Authorities coordinated with the village head of Village No. 8, the Provincial Electricity Authority branch in Phrai Bueng, Phrai Bueng Police Station, Phrai Bueng Hospital, and Samrong Phlan Municipality to jointly inspect the scene and gather initial information.
Preliminary examination suggests the incident may have been caused by an electrical leakage or electrocution, resulting in both deaths. However, the exact cause remains under investigation by the relevant authorities.
Relatives reported that before the incident, the deceased couple had gone to purchase a water pump with the intention of using it to pump floodwater out of their home. It is therefore presumed that an electrical leakage occurred at the point where the pump was to be installed or operated, leading to the tragic accident.
At this stage, police have inspected the scene and are conducting a detailed investigation into the cause of death. They are also examining the electrical system and the surrounding environment at the site to establish the facts and proceed accordingly.
