Clarification on Long Baggage Wait Times at Suvarnabhumi Airport Coordination with Thai Airways to Expedite Resolution

Suvarnabhumi Airport is urgently coordinating with Thai Airways to resolve ground staff shortages caused by flooding in multiple areas, coupled with some baggage carts malfunctioning, impacting both arriving and departing flight services.

On 27 September 2026, Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) clarified that it received complaints from Thai Airways passengers regarding delays on departing flights and extended waiting times for baggage on arriving flights. These issues have persisted since 26 September 2026 and continue today.

Investigations found that flooding in several areas affected the commute of Thai Airways' Ground Handling Agents (GHA), preventing some staff from reaching work. This resulted in insufficient ground personnel to provide services. Additionally, some of Thai Airways' baggage carts malfunctioned, disrupting ground operations including outbound flight services and inbound baggage handling. Consequently, some departing flights were delayed, arriving passengers waited longer for their baggage, and baggage from multiple flights was left unclaimed.

In response, the airport has urgently coordinated with Thai Airways to quickly increase ground staff, expedite repairs of malfunctioning baggage carts, and procure replacement equipment to improve the efficiency of unloading and transporting backlogged baggage. They also arranged for baggage status information to be displayed on monitors and continuous announcements in the baggage claim area to keep passengers informed about the situation and baggage retrieval updates.

Furthermore, the airport has assigned staff to continuously assist and provide information to passengers in both service and baggage claim areas.

For passengers who have not yet received their baggage, Thai Airways has set up a form to report delayed baggage for tracking and coordination of delivery. Passengers can also contact Thai Airways' Lost and Found center at Suvarnabhumi Airport at:

  • International flights: Tel. 02-134-5453 to 55
  • Domestic flights: Tel. 02-134-5473 to 74
  • THAI Contact Center: Tel. 02-356-1111

Suvarnabhumi Airport will closely monitor the situation and continue to coordinate with Thai Airways to resolve the labor shortage promptly so services can return to normal as soon as possible.
