Residents suffer as a canal barrier wall behind a village in Samut Prakan collapses, causing floodwaters nearly 2 meters high to inundate over 700 homes. They are calling on relevant agencies to urgently investigate.
At 14:00 on 27 September 2026, reporters noted the flooding situation in Chuan Chuen Bangna-Trad Village at Kilometer 29, Bang Bo Subdistrict, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province remains serious. The collapse of the Phra Ong Chao canal barrier, which separates the canal from the village, caused water to rush rapidly into the area.
Within the village, widespread flooding has occurred, with water levels reaching approximately 1 to 2 meters in some places. Over 700 homes and parking areas have been severely affected, with many vehicles submerged. Residents are enduring hardship as they await assistance from relevant authorities.
Affected residents reported that water levels from about 18:00 on 26 September until around 06:00 on 27 September—approximately 12 hours—remained nearly the same. However, rainfall this morning caused a slight rise in water levels, raising concerns that the situation may worsen if rain continues.
Currently, villagers are widely impacted, especially regarding travel in and out of their homes and moving their belongings. The situation remains under close watch due to ongoing rainfall in the area.
Residents are urging authorities to promptly inspect the breached canal barrier, expedite repairs, and swiftly drain water from the area to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
