In Rayong, the side spillway wall of the Khlong Rorok Reservoir is damaged, while the embankment surrounding the spillway of Khao Chuk Reservoir has cracked, causing water to flood into low-lying areas. Residents downstream have been advised to move their belongings to higher ground.
On 28 Sep 2026 GMT+7, a reporter reported that the Facebook page of the Klaeng District Agriculture Office posted an urgent warning that the side spillway wall of the Khlong Rorok (Khao Chuk) Reservoir is damaged and nearing collapse. This threatens Thung Kwai Kin subdistrict in Klaeng district and Nam Pen subdistrict in Khao Chamao district, with severe impacts extending to Kong Din and Khlong Poon subdistricts.
Meanwhile, the spillway of Khao Chuk Reservoir, located at the downstream end near the community forest park in Village 1, Nam Pen subdistrict, Khao Chamao district, has a concrete embankment that has subsided, causing large cracks. Water in the reservoir has burst through forcefully. Officials from the Nam Pen Subdistrict Administrative Organization have warned residents in the low-lying downstream areas to prepare urgently by relocating and securing their belongings to higher ground.
Currently, officials from all departments are on site assisting affected residents. Khao Chuk Reservoir is a medium-sized reservoir with a capacity of about 22 million cubic meters, situated at the junction of three subdistricts: Nam Pen in Khao Chamao district, Thung Kwai Kin, and Kong Din in Klaeng district.
Recently, the Rayong Irrigation Project issued a warning for three subdistricts bordering Khao Chuk Reservoir: Nam Pen in Khao Chamao district, Thung Kwai Kin in Klaeng district, and Kong Din. Residents, especially those living along the Khlong Rorok canal, downstream areas, and lowlands, are urged to exercise special caution, move belongings to higher ground, relocate vulnerable groups, prepare for evacuation, and avoid waterway travel during the overflow.
