The Kaeng Krachan Reservoir's water level is close to full capacity, with five houses in Ban Tha Ling Lom already flooded. Residents are rushing to move their belongings to higher ground, preparing for the situation amid fears that flooding may disrupt transportation.
On 29 Sep 2026 at 12:00, reporters visited Ban Tha Ling Lom, Moo 3, Song Phi Nong Subdistrict, Kaeng Krachan District, Phetchaburi Province, following a continuous rise in water levels at the Kaeng Krachan Reservoir due to accumulated rainfall. This caused flooding of approximately five homes.
Field inspections found some homes submerged almost completely, while others had water reaching waist height, damaging household belongings and appliances, some of which were floating in the water.
Locals are actively moving their possessions and closely monitoring the rising water levels in the reservoir, which have increased steadily following several days of persistent rain in Phetchaburi Province.
The Kaeng Krachan Reservoir currently holds about 99.30% of its capacity, equivalent to 705.457 million cubic meters out of approximately 710 million cubic meters total. This is an extremely high level, nearing full capacity, with the Royal Irrigation Department closely tracking water levels and inflows.
If water releases are increased or additional water management measures are taken, nearby communities could be affected. Assessments indicate that up to eight villages, totaling more than 2,000 households, might experience impacts, necessitating ongoing vigilance.
Water discharge from the reservoir to downstream areas remains a critical issue requiring close attention to align releases with inflow volumes, rainfall conditions, and the downstream area's capacity to handle water.
The current situation in Ban Tha Ling Lom requires continuous monitoring, especially for residents in low-lying and surrounding reservoir areas. Authorities urge people to follow official announcements carefully and prepare to relocate belongings, electrical appliances, and valuables to higher ground if water levels rise, ensuring safety and minimizing damage.
Mr. Thanachai Sapsiri, assistant village headman of Ban Tha Ling Lom, Moo 3, said that overall water levels continue to rise, causing concern among residents. Travel has become difficult as roads are flooded. If related agencies open the springway gates, it will affect many more households in the area.
