A sudden flash flood hit a chicken farm in Kamphaeng Phet Province, drowning tens of thousands of chickens and causing losses exceeding one million baht. The farm was forced to sell the chickens cheaply at just 5 for 100 baht to mitigate losses.
On 29 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reports confirmed a flash flood overwhelmed a broiler chicken farm in Village 1, Song Tham Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. The rapid flood caused severe damage, forcing the farm owner to face losses of over one million baht after tens of thousands of chickens drowned almost entirely due to the sudden influx of water.
The farm operator revealed that approximately 20,000 broiler chickens were raised on the farm. However, the floodwaters surged quickly and unexpectedly, forcing workers and staff to hurriedly evacuate the chickens from the housing facilities. Only about 8,000 chickens could be safely relocated to secure areas.
The remaining tens of thousands of chickens were trapped in floodwaters and drowned. Preliminary damage assessments—including the value of the dead chickens, lost feed, and other hidden costs—have resulted in the farm bearing accumulated losses exceeding one million baht.
To alleviate the damage and reduce some of the financial burden, the farm began urgently selling the drowned broiler chickens to the public at a special low price of 5 chickens for 100 baht. Once the news spread, nearby residents came continuously to support and purchase the chickens to use for cooking.
