On 29 September 2026, the Bangkok Education Office issued a declaration titled "Temporary Closure of Educational Institutions Due to Exceptional Circumstances" to ensure the safety of students, parents, teachers, and education personnel in Bangkok. It also aims to inspect school property for possible damage so facilities can safely reopen and effectively conduct teaching and the first semester final exams of 2026.
Under the authority of the 1998 Bangkok regulation on temporary school closures due to special circumstances, section 5(3), schools in Bangkok located in 15 districts classified as highly affected will close for three days, from 30 September to 2 October 2026, including:
Each school must arrange makeup classes later and promptly notify parents.
For schools in 14 districts with moderate impact—Don Mueang, Din Daeng, Dusit, Thawi Watthana, Thung Khru, Bang Sue, Bang Na, Bang Bon, Bang Phlat, Phaya Thai, Phra Khanong, Ratchathewi, Watthana, and Huai Khwang—as well as 21 unaffected districts, the decision to close schools is left to the discretion of each district director based on situation assessment.
The 21 unaffected districts are also under the discretion of each district director to evaluate the situation and decide on additional school closures as needed.
